1. Direct transactions (cash purchases)

Who paysFeeOn what
Seller5%of the item price (commission)
Buyer5% + R15.50of the item price (buyer protection fee)

Both fees are shown at checkout. The seller commission is deducted from the seller’s proceeds on release; the buyer protection fee is added to the buyer’s total before payment.

2. Swap (SWXP) transactions

Who paysFeeFloor / cap
Each party5%of the value of the item they receive
MinimumR25 per partyapplies where 5% is below R25
MaximumNoneno cap

Each party to a swap pays a swap protection fee of 5% of the value of the item they receive, with a minimum of R25 per party and no maximum. Where a swap includes a cash top-up, the cash component is treated as a cash purchase and the buyer protection fee in section 1 applies to it.

3. Authentication (eligible categories)

Authentication is available for electronics, handbags, watches, luxury goods and sneakers. It is optional and elected by a party during the swap flow.

Item valueAuthentication feeWho pays
Under R20,000R500the party who requested authentication (on a pass)
R20,000 and aboveFreeno authentication fee
Any value, failed itemR500the failed party, plus two-way transport of the passed item

Both parties pay their own two-way shipping when authentication is elected. Where the item passes, the party who requested authentication pays the R500 (for items under R20,000; free at R20,000 and above). Where the item fails, for example fraud or a counterfeit, the failed party pays the authentication fee and the two-way transport of the item that passed as well as for their own failed item.

4. Delivery costs

Delivery is quoted at the delivery confirmation step, paid by the buyer, and is separate from the fees above. It is paid to the carrier from the point the delivery is instigated; the seller never receives the delivery cost component. The Shipping and Delivery Policy governs delivery; the Refund and Cancellation Policy governs when delivery is refunded.

5. Fees on a refund or cancellation

Whether a fee is returned depends on why a transaction was refunded. The buyer protection fee is refunded in full where the seller did not ship, a dispute is resolved in the buyer’s favour, or a valid cooling-off or return right applies; it may be retained only on the buyer’s own breach. The swap protection fee is refunded where a swap is cancelled or reversed through no fault of a party, and retained from a party found at fault. The Refund and Cancellation Policy governs the detail.

6. Changes to fees

We may amend this Fee Schedule. We give at least 15 days’ notice of any fee increase or new fee by in-app notice and email, consistent with ToS clause 8.3. The fee that applies to a transaction is the fee displayed at checkout when the transaction is concluded.

7. Not charged at launch

Boost advertising and the SWIPSWXP Plus subscription are Phase 2 products and are not charged at launch. Their pricing will be added to this Schedule when they go live. There is no fee to open an account, add a business, or create a listing.
